What’s new on Netflix in December 2020? Well, the streaming service will continue to give it’s over 192 million subscribers plenty of new stuff to watch. Netflix in December will have lots of major Oscar-worthy films, along with new series. It will also say “Goodbye” to one of its most popular shows.

The Midnight Sky (December 23)
George Clooney directs and stars in this sci-fi drama. In a future where Earth has been hit with a global catastrophe, Clooney’s character is in the Arctic. He has to go on a journey to a remote communications station to signal a group of astronauts not to return to Earth.
Mank (December 4)
Gary Oldman plays Herman J. “Mank” Mankiewicz in this movie directed by David Fincher. It tells the story of how Mankiewicz wrote the script for Orson Welles’ classic film Citizen Kane and the issues and challenges the two men had with each other, and with the film’s production.
The Prom (December 11)
Ryan Murphy directed this adaptation of the acclaimed musical. It stars Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman, and Andrew Rannells. They play four Broadway actors who come to the aid of a young female teenager who has been banned from her high school prom because she wants to bring her girlfriend as her date.
Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (December 18)
The late Chadwick Boseman appears in his final film role in this movie. Based on the play by August Wilson, it takes place in 1927 Chicago. Boseman plays a horn player in a band headed up by legendary blues singer Ma Rainey, played by Viola Davis. Boseman’s character has some plans of his own, however, and they come into conflict with Rainey.
Selena: The Series (December 4)
The life of Latin singer Selena Quintanilla was cut short in her prime. This series stars The Walking Dead’s Christian Serratos as Selena and chronicles her early life and career, along with the many challenges along the way.
What’s on Netflix in December 2020 and what’s leaving (Goodbye, The Office)
Let’s take a look at the full list of what’s new on Netflix in December, followed by a list of what’s leaving the service this month. Normally we don’t make a big deal about a movie or show leaving Netflix, but we are making an exception for the US version of The Office. The series, which is one of the most popular shows on the service, is leaving December 31 and will join Peacock on January 1, 2021.
